Change of public perception of retirement villages begins with village owners

Document sans titre The top challenge for the retirement living industry is the public perception of retirement villages.

The first Retirement Communities Industry Survey by Terrapinn showed that the majority of owners of retirement villages declared they are building 'retirement villages' rather than 'lifestyle communities'.

"If the industry is keen to change public perception of retirement villages, the change needs to stem from the village owners and how they market them," says Janice Chia, General Manager, Terrapinn (Australia ).

The upcoming Retirement Communities World Australasia 2009 conference will address this issue by featuring a panel of leading advertising agencies on 'changing the public perception of retirement villages, building for mass affordability, and global best practices in retirement living development and investment'.

Over 300 senior level decision makers took part in the survey: 23% Developers, 19% Retirement Village Owners, 11% Financiers, 9% Aged Care, 9% Government, and 29% Consultants/Service Providers/Media. For the completed survey report, download your copy here.

The survey findings will be integrated within the agenda of the 2009 conference to be held 30 March - 2 April 2009 at Four Seasons Hotel, Sydney. To register your media pass, visit Retirement Communities World Australasia website.
